JANUARY

STORMFRONT PRODUCTIONS ran its popular SUMMER SCHOOL during the Christmas & New Year break.
A number of new and existing students enjoyed a fun and relaxed block of lessons to work on their
music skills and participate in a number of activities related to singing, guitar and piano.

We said a fond farewell to our three 2017 Year 12 students - Breeze, Alicia and Romy -
as they successfully entered Bachelor Degrees in Artistic fields in Adelaide.

FEBRUARY

STORMFRONT MUSIC TUTORING returned for the year with continuing students and new
faces all excited to get playing, singing and performing for a New Year.

Mark and Alison found time in-studio to start pre-production with music colleagues in
LA and Nashville on a new project of their own due for release in 2019.

Stormfront and the Mount Laura, and Whyalla LIONS Clubs met to wrap up 2017 LIONS GFG Alliance "Carols In The Park".
Our Event Committee decided on recipients of the 2017 "Carols Community Collection" and set the event's 2018 date as "Sunday 16th December" -
Stormfront now began the 10-month planning process to make this huge community celebration a reality!

MARCH

STORMFRONT’s extra-curricular group classes CLUB VOICE and ROCK BAND 101 kicked off, ready for another great year.

At very unexpected short notice SAMARITAN COLLEGE engaged STORMFRONT to assume management of their School Band Programme in 2018
so planning, enrolling, inventory and instrument hires raced to get ready. By month's end 3 Samaritan College Bands were formed
and final organisation and instrument allocations took place ready for Lessons and Rehearsals to commence in Term 2.

APRIL

For our 3rd consecutive year Stormfront Productions staged at the WHYALLA STUDENT CAREER EXPO hosted by Edward John Eyre High School -
we every year being the sole representative and conduit for any young people considering a career in The Arts, Music and Creative Industries.

We again fully sponsored sound & lights, and provided a 2-song performance by the “Stormfront Students SING!” team to the ANZAC EVE Vigil opening ceremony.

April also saw the highly anticipated Launch of the 2018 Whyalla Recording Scholarship -
in 2018 expanding its reach across the Region and accepting entries from Tumby Bay to Mount Remarkable.

Mark and Alison were interviewed by 2 young students - one learning the art of writing for a local community magazine
as part of their Work For the Dole initiative, and the other for Uni coursework.
It's always great to help young people out and see a productive result!

MAY

In May our Piano and Keyboard students took part in Stormfront's Online Music Festival called "MAY I Play" -
with a series of short videos showcasing each student and their chosen piece!

Mark spoke with Sarah Tomlinson on ABC Regional Radio about the newly expanded Whyalla Recording Scholarship,
while Alison conducted a WRS 2018 interview with John Hunt on Southern Cross Television News.
WRS also featured in many other medias across the State, and Nationally.

We were delighted to have a flying visit and studio session with 2017 Whyalla Recording Scholarship Finalist and
Stormfront alumna Romy Foote to record a demo for her new Original song "First" -
which she then performed at the Women's Safety Services SA "Candlelit Vigil" at Elder Park in Adelaide.

The Samaritan College Band Programme launched with weekly lessons across the school's 2 Primary, and 1 Secondary campus.

Whyalla's 12th Annual "JAMM 4 GENES" saw a "Standing Room Only!" crowd fill the St James Hall
and (for the second year running!) become SA's leading 2018 fundraiser for the "Jeans For Genes" cause!
Proudly Australia's longest-running "Jamm" - we saw a BEST EVER 2.5-hours of entertainment performed by young people for young people.

Finishing touches to the 2018 LIONS GFG Alliance "Carols In The Park" programme were made as "Carols Community Choir" members began their online rehearsals.

Samaritan College and Whyalla High School both staged their Musical Productions,
with many Stormfront Productions students performing beautifully as part of the Casts.

Saturday 17th November saw Stormfront host a wide array of young talent at the Whyalla McDonald's Family Restaurant supporting Maccas' annual McHappy Day.
Included in the day's music was a debut performance by the Samaritan College Junior Ensemble.

during an entertaining evening culminating in each student receiving a Participation Award for their dedication to Band in 2018.

Mark & Alison were proud to once again provide music and production for the Whyalla Branch of the Asbestos Victims Association Memorial Service at Mt Laura Homestead Museum.
Stormfront is proud to continue its long-standing central role in assisting this event.

STORMFRONT were named a TOP 4 FINALIST in the prestigious 2018 Arts SA RUBY AWARDS for "Outstanding Contribution by an Organisation or Group".
BREEZE Millard attended the awards on our behalf, while Mark and Alison again performed at the wonderful
Iron Knob Christmas Concert - what a lovely night of festive fun in the Outback!

Whyalla Recording Scholarship WINNERS Shakira and Liberty were kept busy with performances at Mondiales Cafe (Whyalla) and the Cleve Christmas Markets,
while Jaylee opened the show for the "Hip Hop Bounce" concert at Middleback Arts Centre.

We proudly hosted the final Dress Rehearsal for LIONS GFG Alliance "Carols In The Park" as the anticipation for the big night grew.

An ensemble of performers completed the 2018 Samaritan College Band year with a pre-show concert at Prize Night in Whyalla's Middleback Arts Centre.
What a great performance! We then were pleased to present 8 Instrumental Awards for Excellence onstage during the Award Ceremony.
